32Building your own arrows
A dozen cedar arrows needs twelve shafts, twelve nocks, twelve points and thirty six feathers, plus glue for the nocks and points. Buy one or two spare of each: a workshop always cracks a nock.
| Part | For a dozen | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Shafts | 12, matched to your spine | Arrow shafts |
| Points | 12, the same diameter as the shaft | Points and tips |
| Nocks | 12, the same diameter as the shaft | Nocks |
| Feathers | 36, one index and two hens each | Feathers |
Diameter first
Points and nocks are sold by shaft diameter. Pick 5/16 or 11/32 for the shafts, then buy the points and nocks in the same size.
